Gardens are full of wildlife. You may not always notice it, but it's there. You only have to stop, be patient and observe.

There are many varieties of wildlife in a garden : Mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and arachnids.

Capturing the wildlife in a photograph requires a different set of skills than those required for flower photography.

Behavioral knowledge of the subject helps. Being able to get close enough to take a photograph is tricky whilst not disturbing the subject, even so wildlife rarely stays just where you want it too. A steady camera hand is a must. You need fast reactions, a fast shutter speed and sufficient light. And you need to know how to focus on a moving subject for the sharpest image possible.

But get those things right and you'll have a photograph of a subject that you rarely see or raely see still for long enough to study it closely.
